How to Replace an Audi q7 Replacement key G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video, Charles the humble mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is situated near the transmission's edge over the flywheel gear. It sends a message to the ECU via the grey wire T55/49 and then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated at the edges of the transmission, above the flywheel ring. This sensor sends signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this information to regulate fuel and boost. It also sends an indicator to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to connect the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is so it can trigger spark and injectors according to the situation.

If this sensor fails the ECU will show an error code P00160 which indicates that the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft aren't in sync and possibly indicating the chain is stretched or a jump link on the upper timing chain. The code won't appear without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or audi Tt key G40).

Testing is a bit tricky because there are two connector pins and they serve different purposes however the best way to test it is by measuring resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read around 1000 ohms when it is operating at its maximum. Look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you are experiencing problems with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll, i experienced massive power loss like the engine is running out of gas or the injectors are not firing at all. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were soaked in gasoline, and the fourth was dry. When I crank the engine with no sparks, i place a tissue on top of each injector hole and the 3 that were drenched in gazoline jump out but the 4th stay shut. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I found zero ohm. I think the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car can start if the G28 is not plugged in and is running fine when it is plugged in but it still has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temp value -49c even when i unplug it. Also i noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit is showing 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.0 when I crank up the engine.

I'm not certain what to do, as i think i've pretty much eliminated everything else. I'm afraid i may have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please share them! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is similar to the G4 sender and works on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate a spare in a wrecking shop or a parts store. Testing them is easy to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and take measurements between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's side up) and audi replacement key Service near me 2 (2nd from the left on the black end of the connector). 4. ECU

If you experience any of these problems, it is likely that your sensor is failing and should be replaced. The good news is that they are quite affordable and easy to find particularly in the case of the Bosch sensor, which is what ours are. If you prefer, GM's version of this component is an excellent choice.

5. Tachometer

A faulty engine speed sensor could be a cause for a slew of problems in your replacement car key audi.
